BYC's Bonanza 2014!


The 11th of January saw BYC organize a bonanza as a climax of one and a half month's of BYC’s football league. The aim of the bonanza was to target the 110 direct and 1,000 indirect beneficiaries of the Million Hour Fund project conducted by BYC.



The final match of the bonanza between Buguruni A and Buguruni Heroes. The picture above shows the teams entering the football fiedl with the referees for the match. This was a very anticipated match where Buguruni Heroes took the trophy home after a they won through a penalty. They beat Buguruni A 1-0.



Different activities took place during the bonanza and this included dance and drama, 2 football leagues and a netball game.

Invited guests included a representative from the Community Development Office, Kiwalani School teacher and VSO’s Million Hour Programme Manager.

Of the 110 direct beneficiaries, income generating activities have been formed by at least 10 groups and this bonanza provided an opportunity for the groups to showcase their items and products.
 
The bonanza helped create awareness on issues related to SRH and Entrepreneurship through use of sports and drama.

This mostly was done through the use of movement games before the beginning of the football and the netball games. In addition, some of the youth and children that came to watch the bonanza also participated in the movement games.
